Soma Saga Project Bike Build

Back in September I showed some pictures of a new (to me) Soma Saga frame that I intended to build into a city explorer – something with a bit of class, simple, and the ability to aimlessly cruise around the city without breaking too much of a sweat.  Finally the parts are starting to come together and the bike is looking closer and closer to riding.

The current build stands at:

58cm Soma Saga frameset

Cane Creek 40 headset

Shimano Deore XT M770 9 spd rear derailleur

SRAM PG-970 11-32 cassette

Sugino RD2 single speed crankset (awaiting BB to install)

700c rims from a Specialized Crosstrail (700×35 Resist Nomad black/tan tires on the way)

SKS Fenders

Velo Orange Saddle

Origin8 Stem

Origin8 Cantilever brakes

The mustache bars and aero brake levers may get swapped for a more upright setup once the geometry gets dialed in. Overall I am a very happy camper right now – I can’t wait to get out and ride it!
